Trouble Shooting Maintenance

  1. No Electricity or Gas – If the power is not working when you move into your rental property or it goes off during your tenancy, you’ll need to check that the safety switch and main switch are on. You should find your meter box located in the garage, to the side of the house, inside the house or on your apartment level. If this does not rectify the problem, call your power company. If there is no problem identified by the power company, you could have a faulty appliance – in which case we’ll send a certified electrician to assess the problem. If a faulty appliance is short circuiting the power, repair fees will be owed by the tenant.

  2. Lights not working – If your lights are not working, try changing the globes first and check with your provider to ensure there isn’t a power blackout affecting you.
  3. Smoke Detector sounds – In most cases, a beeping smoke detector’s batteries will need replacing. If the property is new, please remove the battery, spin it and reconnect. This will stop any beeping.

If the property is brand new please remove the battery, spin it and re-connect. This will stop any beeping.

  4. Garage door won’t open – If the garage door is not opening via remote control, check that the panel is switched to ‘automatic’ and not ‘manual’. If still not working, check if the remote’s battery needs changing.
  5. No Hot Water – If you do not have hot water, check that your pilot light has not gone out. You will usually find the instructions on the door of the unit. A gas hot water service is located outside.
  6. Bin Day – If you are unsure about when your bin is to be put out, please contact your local council.
