How frequently should owners be paid?

In the current climate, property management agencies are often passing on investment rental payments to owners once or twice a week. But what is the ideal frequency for owners to be paid and what considerations are required? Many owners are facing their own cost of living issues. As an example, when rent is collected on a Thursday and the agency pay run is the following Wednesday, it can put owners under financial pressure.

In situations where the rent is in arrears, it delays the payment to owners even further. This has the potential to put landlords in a position of not having enough money when their mortgage is due. The market has changed and there is now a real push and a shift in the expectation with owners that agencies need to be dispersing their funds almost every day. That means that as soon as the funds clear in an agency’s trust account, that it goes out to the owners.

With so many people facing an affordability crisis and struggling to make mortgage payments and cover bills such as insurances, it’s important to make sure that as soon as an agency has the funds, the owners have their funds.
